Instructions
The first image you import into a directory
Now let’s put the first set of images into the directory. The process of importing images into a catalog is called “importing”. During the import process, you can import existing images from your hard drive, or you can copy the files to the destination folder and import the images. For this manual, we will import a set of images that are already on the local hard drive without going through the copy process. When you do this, the images being imported will remain in the original location where they were stored.
Since this is just for training, I recommend that you import a subset of images instead of starting by importing all the image files. Create a test folder and copy the images to this test folder. For testing, I recommend that you use a set of several hundred images.
To import the test set, open the hamburger menu (1) and click “Import to Catalog”.
Open import module;
To quickly import images, follow these steps:
- Select a source. Click the first button and select the source folder. In this case, this will be the test folder we just created.
- We don’t want to copy the image to a new destination, so please select the “No” option and make sure the copy function is turned off.
- We’re going to import the images into the catalog, so make sure “Import” is set to “Yes”.
- Click the “Start Import” button to start the import.
